Plage des Fourmis is the long stretch of sand that runs along the main bus route; backed by a shady promenade lined with palm trees and tropical plants, the beach is very easy to find.

This is a good beach for families and also for those who are more cautious swimmers. The shallow waters make it easy to swim a little without getting out of your depth. It's also great for families being so close to the town and amenities.

Beach Bars & Beachclubs in Nice

There are two restaurants on the beach, La Calanque and Royal Riviera Plage, where you can hire sun loungers and parasols by the day or half-day.

Water Safety & Clarity

The beach drops away gently into the water and remains shallow enough for children to play and paddle safely. Most of the long beach is public and supervised by lifeguards. Safe swimming areas are marked out with yellow floats and the calm waves make the area popular with families.

Beach Quality

The small pebbles are very easy on the feet and smooth enough to feel like sand.

Watersports Nearby

You can try your skills at paddle boarding, wake boarding, parasailing and more at the Royal Riviera Plage, look for the blue parasols at the far end of the beach - you don’t have to be a guest of the hotel to hire the equipment.

Directions

Buses stop literally right beside the beach and the train station is a short walk; public transport is definitely the best option as parking is limited and charged by the hour. The ports and town centre of Beaulieu-Sur-Mer are all within walking distance, so you don’t need to go far to find shops and cafés.
