A quiet pebble beach near the Cap Martin peninsula
Plage Buse is a pretty and undulating stretch of pebbly coastline tucked away to the west of the Roquebrune Cap Martin peninsula.
It tends to be quiet all year round, perhaps due to the lack of lifeguard, and seems to be used a lot by sun-worshipping locals - elderly retirees with skin like well-worn leather. The beach is mostly pebbles and the sea is usually fairly calm. There are showers but the only toilets are at the Café Le Cabanon at the far west end of the beach.
Le Cabanon is a friendly little beach shack with a sunny terrace and an indoor dining room; they serve a decent range of lunch and snack options as well as cold drinks and ice creams.
Although the sea is calm here you should be aware that there are no lifeguards on duty.
The rocks at the far east end of the beach are a popular fishing spot and there is a footpath here that leads to Menton along an easy coastal route with stunning views; it only takes about 45 minutes or so.
Access to Plage du Buse couldn’t be easier; the train stops right above it, just follow the staircase down to Le Cabanon and you’ll find yourself on the beach in a few minutes. If you’ve come by car there is plenty of free parking at the train station.
