Plage de la Pierre au Tambour Beach, Villeneuve Loubet

Pebble beach great for watersports fans with equipment to rent

Plage de la Pierre au Tambour runs from the port all the way to Antibes and has a busy road and train line running behind it, neither of which you can hear much. If you stand facing the sea and look to your right you can see Antibes and its 16th century fort sticking out from the mainland.

If you want complete tranquility then head to the small bay closest to the port, Plage de l’Amiral. This has no restaurants, no watersports, no facilities, just peace and quiet! It tends to be popular with the older crowd who are content to watch the boats come and go from the small harbour and take a gentle swim in the calm cove that is protected on either side by rock walls. If you want to take a stroll then you are very near the shops and restaurants of the port.

Setting & Location

The section of beach closest to the port is quieter and more relaxing than the watersports area. The beach has a few restaurants either on the shore, or on the road to Antibes. It becomes less busy the further along the road you get, but this is probably because once you get past the watersports kiosk there is nothing between the beach and the road, so the noise and smell of traffic is much more evident.

Water Safety & Clarity

There are lifeguards here during the summer months and peak season.

Beach Quality

This is a pebble beach but in some places is feels more like shale rather than the large pebbles we are used to on the Cote d'Azur.

Watersports Nearby

A popular beach for watersports, including jetskiing, kayaking, parasailing and banana boats.
