Segway Villefranche Sur Mer Tour

3hr tour along the Mediterranean sea suitable for anyone over the age of 12 years

A ride between the sky and the sea from Nice to Villefranche-sur-mer! Ride along the Mediterranean Sea to the east and enjoy some amazing panoramic views.

After the training given by your guide, you will ride on the most famous avenue of Nice! The Promenade des Anglais after which you will visit the following places.

  • The Ponchettes: at the end of the prom, you will ride along the Ponchettes, whose terraces were a very popular walking path until the 60s. A study project is underway to revive this tradition.
  • Rauba Capéu Wharf: an unmissable stop with a breathtaking view of the Promenade des Anglais, the Ponchettes and the Nice Opera house. Keep your helmet on, because "Rauba capéu" means "fly" and "hat" in French; This place is indeed one of the windiest of the city!
  • Port Lympia: enjoy the perspective on Port Lympia, which takes its name from the spring that fed a small lake in this area. The construction of the port began at the end of the eighteenth century and lasted more than a century and a half. You can then observe the yachts mingling with the traditional Pointus of Nice.
  • Maeterlinck Palace: originally, the establishment was meant to be a casino to compete with that of Monte-Carlo. But succeeded by the Palais de la Méditerranée in 1928, Maurice Maeterlinck made it the villa Orlamonde, building of 6000m2 surrounded by a garden of 4 hectares! Today it is a complex of 18 luxurious apartments, overlooking the sea.
  • Saint-Elme Citadel: the beginning of the construction of the Citadel dates back to the mid-sixteenth century. The Fort and its ramparts had a fundamental strategic importance for the defence of the county of Savoy. You will have a unique experience by crossing the bridge levis on your Segway to admire the gardens of the Citadel!
  • Chapel of Saint Peter: by taking the direction of the port of Villefranche, you will pass in front of the Chapel Saint Pierre. It was Jean Cocteau who completely redecorated this former chapel of fishermen in 1956. The ensemble is drawn on religious themes evoking the apostle or on more popular themes such as homage to the gypsies of Saintes-Maries de la Mer.
  • Break/Free time: enjoy some free time for a drink on one of the many terraces present on the port of Villefranche, or stroll through the narrow streets of the old town.
  • Fortress Mont Alban: the return to Nice will be via Mont Boron, the highest hill in the town centre. You will then visit the fortress which was built in the 16th century to protect the area against invaders. You will also experience the most beautiful panoramic views from Villefranche-Sur-Mer.
