This celebrated Provençal inn combines elegant accommodation with a private collection of modern art by renowned 20th-century artists.

Originally a lively café bar known as “Chez Robinson” in the 1920s, this unique hotel quickly became a favourite among local artists. Owner Paul Roux transformed it into the Colombe d’Or, a three-room inn that welcomed painters who often exchanged their work for a stay or a meal.

Today, the hotel features 13 rooms and 12 suites, with an ever-growing collection of artworks woven into its character. Highlights include a ceramic mural by Fernand Léger on the terrace and a striking installation by Irish artist Sean Scully by the pool. The lovely Hôtel la Pérouse has a sophisticated feel with attractive bright rooms, a restaurant serving great Provençal cuisine on its huge terrace and a swimming pool on the hillside to refresh your body and mind.

In 1986, the Hotel la Pérouse rounded out the Hôtels du Roy collection. A passionate lover of the sea, the former owner named the hotel "La Pérouse" as a tribute to the great French navigator, Jean-François Galaup, Count of La Pérouse (1741-1788).

A little history - Louis XVI ordered La Pérouse to lead a scientific mission that set sail from Brest on August 1, 1785, on two ships: the Astrolabe and the Boussole, which were filled with treasures. There were 213 men on board, including some of the era's great researchers. Their goal was to sail around the world and discover new lands and unknown civilisations.

Louis Hector Berlioz stayed in the Bellanda Tower, where he composed Le Roi Lear. Raoul Dufy stayed often in Nice and chose to set up his easel at the Hotel, where he painted a number of canvases featuring the Bay of Angels, the magnificent seascape he saw from his room.
