The French Riviera has warmed up nicely and visitors are flocking to Nice's beaches as the summer season reaches its peak. However, you'll find there’s much more to do than relaxing on a sun lounger all day here, as the events calendar is jam-packed in July.

Here's a sneak peek at some of the events we're particularly looking forward to throughout July in Nice.

Nuits du Sud Festival

The month of July is filled with music from various countries and in a variety of settings. The Nuits du Sud, hosted in the town of Vence, brings together artists from around the world in what has now become a major event in the Riviera calendar. Taking place from July 19th up until August 2nd 2019, you really need to study the programme to ensure that you don't miss out on some of the best music of the summer, including Eagle Eye Cherry, Synapson, Gilberto Gil and Yuri Buenaventura.

The Nice Jazz Festival takes centre stage on the week of July 16th to 19th. This five-day jazz extravaganza has hosted the likes of Macy Gray and Rufus Wainwright in the past alongside local stars. 2019 will see The Black Eyed Peas, Neneh Cherry, Neil Rodgers and Ibrahim Maalouf, among others, entertain the crowds in the Place Masséna and the Théâtre de Verdure.

Classical Music

Classical music takes over the whole of July with several festivals in and around Nice. It all starts with chamber music and orchestral recitals by students and teachers of the local conservatory at the Nice Classic Live, in the Cloister of Cimiez. Then, on eight nights from July 20th to 31st, the Festival Saint Paul de Vence will bring a mixture of classical and jazz music to this artistic medieval village.

The exhibition was shown at the Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Paris in autumn 2017 and was a huge success. You'll be able to see it in Nice until October 6th 2019.
