Secret Organic Vineyards eBike Tour
6 hour bike & wine tasting tour suitable for adults & children over 12 years
Venture off the tourist trail and discover Nice’s best kept secret on this bike tour to a Bellet vineyard. Note that this is an authentic “dirt-under-the-fingernails” working vineyard that was not made for commercial tourism!
Of the 4 million tourists that come to Nice every year, few know that Nice has its own vineyards that produce high-quality AOC stamped wine. On this tour you will meet the passionate winemaker, who walks you through his lovingly cared for vines. He’ll then explain the organic wine making process, and what makes Bellet wine so special. Sample his wines and finish up with a picnic lunch in an idyllic setting under an olive tree.
What you will see on the tour:
Gorgeous sea and mountain views
Starting on the cycle path of the Promenade des Anglais, you will bask in the sun along this historic seafront boardwalk. Once on the hill climb, the zig-zagging quiet back roads provides views of the turquoise blue sea in one direction and splendid mountains in the other. Thanks to the eBikes, you have an easy, relaxing 1½ hour ride to the vineyard.
Walk through the vines
The winemaker gives you an insight into the complex art of managing the vines, from pruning to harvesting. The winemaker shares his know-how gained from decades of experience and explains his intimate relationship with each wine stock.
Inside the wine cellar
You will get full access to the inner sanctuary, a privilege rarely enjoyed at other vineyards. Guests tend to say this is the highlight of the tour. Depending on the time of visit, you may even get to sample partially completed wine directly from the vats!
Sample the wines
At the end of the visit to the vineyards, you will sample and savour the three wines produced here – red, rosé and white. This is where you will fully understand the meaning of the French AOC concept (Appellation d’Origin Controlée) and the uniqueness of the two grape varieties that originate here – the Braquet and the Folle Noire.
