Fete de la Musique

Next up is the ever popular Fete de la Musique, an event celebrated across France on June 21st. Launched in 1982 by the French Ministry for Culture, the Fete is different from a music festival in that all the concerts and performances are free to the public and none of the artists are paid. Nice plays host to one of the biggest events in the country as France 2, the TV channel, organises a huge show in Place Masséna featuring some the top names in the national music scene, including Patrick Bruel, Soprano, Pascal Obispo, Zazie, Jenifer, Eddy de Preto or Aya Nakamura.

Ballet Nice Méditerranée

To finish off, the Ballet Nice Méditerranée will perform a beautiful choreography by Luciano Cannito at the Opéra de Nice on June 28th and 29th. Cassandra is based on the German novel of the same title by Christa Wolf. This piece delves into the role of women in wars combining classical and contemporary ballet, as well as folk dance.
