The main airport for the French Riviera, Nice Cote d'Azur, set a new record in 2016 as 12.4 million passengers passed through its gates over the course of the year, an increase of 3.4%.

The figures, released by the company Aéroports de la Côte d'Azur (ACA), show that international flights were up more (+ 3.6%) than domestic flights (+ 3.2%). With 4,494,905 international passengers and 7,932,522 domestic, it seems that despite Brexit vote and reservations over the region in the wake of the terror attack in Nice on 14th July 2016, tourism continued to grow.

The airport also benefited from four matches of the Euro 2016 being hosted in Nice in June where the increase in passengers during this period was +4.9%.
