More Strikes in the Pipeline Could Affect Holidaymakers in Nice
Air traffic controllers are being called to strike over pay & resources
Flights to and from France will once again be disrupted as another strike is called for the 2nd and 3rd of July.
The strike has been confirmed just before the first wave of people departing on summer holidays. The DGAG (direction generale of civil aviation) has said that nearly 40% of flights will need to be cancelled.
There are many different reasons that air traffic control workers are unhappy, and as such staff are demotivated and becoming increasing concerned about their livlihood. The two unions called to strike have seen a loss in pay due to the overhaul of various allowances/grants and are concerned for further reductions. There is also concern about retirement as there are lots of people who don't know when they will get to retire.
Previous strikes in April caused wide spread disruption across the country. In addition to the worry felt by holiday makers at threatened strikes in early May.
