The accident occurred on the 5th October at the Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka when the 25 year old French Formula One driver crashed off the track in the latter stages of the race.

As we reported in October, his condition then was extremely serious, he was in a coma and in a critical state in a Japanese hospital. Since then we are pleased to report that Jules has returned to his home town of Nice and although far from recovered the signs are very positive.

He is no longer in a coma and is able to breathe unaided, although he is still unconscious. He was brought back to Nice University Hospital on Wednesday where he has been placed in intensive care to continue his treatment and recovery. According to reports and a press release from his family, there will be no further surgery scheduled for the moment and his condition was deemed stable enough to be repatriated to France.

"Nearly seven weeks after the accident, and after a long period of intensive care in neurology, we can announce that Jules has taken an important step. He came out of coma, but he is still unconscious. It happens to breathe unaided and his vital signs are stable."

We are very pleased that Jules is back in France and close to his family friends and wish for a speed recovery now that he is on home soil.
