Crowds Flock to the Nice Carnival
Estimated 20,000 people out in the streets for the Kings of Music Day
Despite the rain and a postponed opening parade, the 131st edition of the Nice Carnival has seen some of the biggest celebrations of its history.
Around 20,000 party goers took to the streets of Nice last Sunday for what is traditionally one of the biggest days of the Carnival, Les Rois de la Musique (the Kings of Music). With music, lights, floats, giant animations, acrobats, dancers and a whole host of other performers the parades in the middle of the Carnival weeks are always popular.
Enjoy this look back on the first week of festivities with the Nice Carnaval Run, Flower Parade and the Parade of Lights.
With a long and varied history the Nice Carnival is now one of the world's major carnival events, alongside the Rio Carnival in Brazil and the Venetian festival.
