Coldplay bring Paradise to Nice
Traffic, parking, public transport, shuttles & security will all be part of the paradise
An estimated 56,000 fans are expected to attend this evenings Coldplay concert which will be hosted at the Stade Charles Ehrmann, near Palais Nikaia, to the west of Nice city centre.
Nice will be Coldplay's only stop in France during the three month world tour for the release of the latest album, 'A Head Full of Dreams'. With this being one of the first major concerts of the year and certainly one of the most popular that Nice will see, the city has organised a number of free shuttles and additional public transport in an effort to reduce parking and traffic issues around the venue.
Doors to the venue will open from 16:30, giving spectators plenty of time to get to the venue before the concert kicks off at 21:00. It is advisable to use public transport rather than your car, due to the shear volumes of traffic expected. You can travel either by bus (the 95 route will have additional buses, increased to a frequency of every 5 minutes) or by train to Saint-Augustin station.
For the return journey after the concert, shuttles will be provided from the end of the concert, and until the venue has completely emptied.
There will also be enhanced security at the venue, with almost 1000 people being employed to assist the flow and safety of visitors to the event. "Obviously, with the state of emergency, security has been strengthened compared to large traditional gatherings," says Gilbert Melkonian, head of Nikaia. Random checks will be performed on vehicles and bags will be searched on admission.
If you are going to see Chris Martin and the rest of Coldplay this evening then be sure to leave in plenty of time, get there early to get a good spot and get ready for an amazing night of music, performance and pyrotechnic excellence!
