3,800m swim, 180km cycle and 42km run in Nice

featured in Events calendar Updated

Nice is a venue with steep triathlon history. Swim in the azure Mediterranean waters, cycle through the southern Alps and run along Nice's historic waterfront down the Promenade des Anglais.

Athletes begin with a beach start and embark on a two-loop 3,800m swim in the pristine waters of the Mediterranean Sea. The 180km bike course is the jewel of Ironman France, as it follows much of the original Nice Triathlon route and passes through villages and mountains. There are 6,500 feet of challenging climbs and beautiful panoramic views.

The 42km run will include a flat and fast four-loop course along the Promenade des Anglais. Athletes can expect impressive spectator support along the route.

What to see

Nice is one of Europe's premier triathlon playgrounds, and as a qualifying event for the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii, it attracts thousands of competitors from many different parts of the world.

With one of the largest international airports in France located just minutes away from the city, Nice is easily accessible and welcomes over five million visitors every year as one of the most famous tourist destinations in the world. Beyond the beauty of the area, Nice also offers outstanding cuisine and culture, and embodies all the benefits of a historic coastal city. If you really want to soak up the Riviera vibe, there’s no better place.

The event moved to Nice in 2005, having previously been held in the town of Gérardmer, in the Vosges.
