Surrounded by forest and the winding Loup River, the tranquil village of La-Colle-sur Loup is a lovely medieval village, presided over by a 16th century castle. You can drive here very easily; those without a car can take the train to Cros-de-Cagnes and then the bus number 400 (20 minute journey) to the village. Just be aware that public transport on the Riviera doesn't run late into the night- although there are worse places to get stuck for a night than La-Colle-sur-Loup.
At the centre of La-Colle-Sur-Loup is a pedestrianised street where the old stone buildings, cobbled street and small square make it a charming place to stop for lunch at one of the many restaurants and cafes. There's also the Michelin-starred Alain Llorca, serving up Mediterranean cuisine on a lovely terrace overlooking the village and surrounding hills, while Restaurant Villa Nicolas is receiving rave reviews.

La-Colle-sur-Loup offers several beautiful and historical buildings, such as the Canadel Priory- a 12th century abbey which now houses a rather fabulous hotel. Another sight worth seeing is the wonderful stained glass windows and square bell tower of the Saint Jacques Church. The town also boasts the 16th century Chateau de Montfort and 'Le Gaudelet, a hunting lodge from the same era with a Renaissance facade. Be sure to call into the tourist office for a map; the village isn’t touristy enough to have put up signs up everywhere.
