Reserve des Mont d'Azur

Safari park where animals live in their natural habitat

featured in Sights & sites

Come and see bison, deer, horses, boars and hawks roaming on 700 hectares of land, just one hour from the French Riviera

A large animal reserve where over 500 native European breeds can be seen in their natural surroundings.

Enjoy guided walking safari tours, horse drawn wagon rides, or even see the animals at dawn and dusk on an overnight stay in the reserve's on-site accommodation. The reserve also carries out important ecological work with rare species, which you can learn more about at the centre.

Open to the public from 1 March to the first weekend of January. To respect the high ecological standards established by the scientific team, the number of daily visitors is limited and guided visits are preferably booked in advance. Guided safaris start at around 20€, with discount prices for teenagers and children.

Visitor comments

  • "We found the reserve by accident and had to make a real effort to book for a later date when there was a carriage tour available, but we were so pleased we did. Our French was not up to the standard of the guide's information but we got the gist of most of it and she did bravely offer to try to translate for us. We loved being so close to the bison, and the sanglier, and the horses, and all their youngsters, the carriage horses were great and we learnt a great deal. If only we spoke better French - but it was a beautiful spot and a wonderful experience." - Trip Advisor
  • "If you have an interest in getting up close and seeing a Bison and several other animals this is a great tour. We did the walking tour and really enjoyable. I'd recommend it to anyone that has an interest in learning about the natural habitat from several thousand years ago. All the staff here are extremely friendly as well." - Trip Advisor
  • "At €20 per person, it might be a bit expensive for some, but it's well worthwhile whether for kids or adults. I did the tour on foot which is preferable to the carthorse drawn circuit as you get closer to the animals. Along with wild boar here is a herd of European bison, Przewalski's wild horses and deer who come down to drink at the lake in the late afternoon. There is a bar and restaurant and accommodation if you wish to stay. I found our guide both well informed and communicative and always ready to answer questions. Set up by an ex of Botswanan Safari parks I would recommend a visit."  - Trip Advisor
