Firefighters battled with the flames on Friday evening (7th July 2017) in Nice after Coco Beach Club was evacuated. The fire was finally under control by 03:00.

An institution in Nice, the Coco Beach Club, is a popular hangout for locals of the city, including the former mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, who mentioned the fire on his Twitter site. Estrosi posted an image of the burning building saying "Fire Coco Beach. 40 people evacuated after accidental fire. Support to the owners and clients of this institution in Nice."

Located on a rocky outcrop on the Cap de Nice, the beach club had recently been taken over and renovated. Opened for just one week after the renovations before the fire destroyed the whole building.

Thankfully no-one was injured in the fire and we hope that the owners will rebuild. On their facebook page they have stated that "Coco Bach is wounded, but will be reborn, stronger, more beautiful. The soul of Coco Beach is eternal."
