EuroVelo, a European cycling network initiative, will ensure that you can use around 14 long-distance cycling routes crossing the whole of Europe by 2020.

The 100% bike network of 75,000km will pass through 43 European countries, and although it is still under construction, it is already well advanced on some of its routes. The EuroVelo 8 will offer cyclists the chance to enjoy the stunning scenery from Spain through France, Monaco, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania and on to Greece.

"Cycling through the Mediterranean region is a real awakening of the senses."

The Méditerannée à Vélo (part of EuroVelo 8) in France will offer in the long term a 700 km long cycling route from the Boulou to Menton and linking Spain to Italy. It will join the coastline at the Esterel before passing through Cannes, Antibes, Nice and Monaco before crossing the border into Italy. In the Alpes-Maritimes, several sections are already completed including the ‘Littorale’ or Coastal Route - a cycle path which goes along the coast for 15 km from the port of Nice to the “Baie des Anges” Marina, at Villeneuve-Loubet.
