Under new national laws shops and boutiques in Cannes, Nice, Cagnes sur Mer and St Laurent du Var will now be able to open on Sundays. Great news for those of us who enjoy a Sunday mooch around the shops before heading to our favourite restaurant or cafe for brunch!

Now classified as 'International Tourist Zones' under the 2015 Macron law, named after France’s Economy Minister Emmanuel Macron, parts of the Cote d'Azur have been deemed to have a global reputation for commercial, cultural or leisure reasons. This includes the towns of Cannes, Cagnes sur Mer, Saint Laurant du Var and the city of Nice.

The new Macron law that allows commercial businesses not only to open on Sundays but also to stay open until midnight on weekdays.

The Polygon Riviera Shopping Centre which opened is doors in October 2015, the first 'lifestyle shopping centre' of its kind in France, will open its doors and its shops for the first time this Sunday 17th April. Currently they expect 80% of shops to be open as some of the independent stores are still awaiting internal confirmation of the new hours.

This new move will mean that a weekend break to the beautiful city of Nice will become even more appealing. Now you can enjoy the sights and attractions that the city has to offer before you begin shopping for those necessary souvenirs, gifts and of course the 'treat to self' that you simply must have!
